LaFerney, Inc. was founded by Don LaFerney Sr., in October
of 1976. He incorporated LaFerney, Inc. in the state of
Tennessee in 1977 with only $75.00 and a vision. Don Sr. bid on many different roofs. He bided a total of 180 roofs before he managed to successfully land his first one. With few tools of his own to work with, he managed to get the job done. Shortly after he finished his first roof, work increased rather quickly because of numerous referrals he had received. By the end of the first year, LaFerney, Inc. grossed more than a 100,000 dollars and a growing client base. With continued hard work and Don Sr.'s reputation for quality, craftsmanship, and honesty, he gained peoples trust. This was a key factor in keeping him busy most of the year. Don Sr. continually increased the comapny's sales and expanded operations with better equipment and more people. He later entered the commercial roofing industry in 1980 and sold his first commercial roof replacement to a warehouse of a large food chain. The project was a built-up roof system that totaled 12 thousand square feet. It was in bad need of replacement. After LaFerney, Inc. completed the project, the customer was so pleased with his work the food chain became a corporate account with repeat business. Within the first five years, LaFerney, Inc. had completed well over 700 roofing jobs. At this time LaFerney, Inc. had 15 + employees and still continued to grow. When Don LaFerney, Jr. graduated from school, he began working full-time with his father. He had worked for his father on and off part-time, but now made the decision to help his father and stay in the family business. LaFerney, Inc., in 1990, was introduced to PVC membranes. These types of membranes could be mechanically attached or fully adhered. LaFerney Inc. was very happy with the material of the PVC system and began selling this new type of roofing product. In 2002, LaFerney reached number 1 in sales of the Duro-Last PVC as a commercial contractor and has remained in the Top 10 for Duro-Last ever since. In 2005 Don Sr. handed over the reins to Don Jr. and retired. Now Don Jr. is running all operations of the company. LaFerney, Inc. is continuing a steady growth and is one of the largest commercial roofing companies in the Southeastern United States. |
